The key features of the DXRacer gaming chair
And you will find below a summary of the features that set the DXRacer F08 apart from the other similar gaming chairs:
- High-quality synthetic leather. This type of upholstery material offers a luxury finishing and is easy to clean. The negative side is the heat is that the surface becomes warmer during summer.
- Reclinable backrest up to 135°: ideal for simracing or to enjoy a moment of relaxation between long hours of games. Indeed, other seats can recline up to 180°, but how can that be comfortable for gaming? Unless you plan to sleep on it, the DXRacer’s is more than sufficient.
- The premium cold foam: ensures a firm and comfortable sitting for long hours and can last years without deformation signs.
- 3D adjustable armrests: perfect for ensuring optimal support at the elbows and shoulders. If you are suffering from shoulder pain, this is one of the essential aspects to consider. A better adjustment of the armrests might help release stress from both the shoulders and the back.
- Headrest and lumbar adjustable cushions included, which allows you to increase your comfort and therefore improve your game performance.
In-depth review of the DXRacer F08 chair
Design
The seat’s design, inspired by racing cars, is the unique selling point of the brand. The subtle pops of color on the backrest give it a modern yet elegant appearance. To make sure it fits in your gaming room, the chair is available in several colors: blue, yellow, red, orange and purple. But if you prefer a rather discrete seat, the grey or black versions may suit you.
Ergonomics
The DXRacer seat offers quite a lot of flexibility in terms of adjustments so that gamers can easily find their optimal posture. Indeed, if you suffer from back pain, you probably already know the importance of good posture, especially if you spend long hours in front of the computer.
We have breifly mentioned before that the armrests are 3D adjustable, which means you have three degrees of freedom to make sure that they will fit your arms correctly. If you ever had a cheap gaming chair with 1D-adjustable armrests, you’ll quickly notice the difference. The backrest can tilt up to 135°, which is ideal for fans of racing simulators as this feature allows you to adapt to a posture as the F1 drivers.
In essence, the DXRacer gaming chairs take ergonomic aspects really seriously. And if you don’t believe, just check out the comments from other users on Amazon.
Materials and Quality
The DXRacer F08 chair, although it’s not the most premium model, it is built with excellent quality materials. This contributes not only to comfort and user experience but also to durability. If you decide to invest a large amount of money in a gaming chair, I’m pretty sure you don’t want to replace it after one year, right?
The structure
The metal structure provides stability and robustness. The frame is made of steel and the base of aluminium alloy to minimize the weight. Another relevant point to talk about is the wheels. It’s a rather common problem concerning gaming chairs: they might start to squeak after some time. But in this case, the PU-plastic of the DXRacer F08’s wheels allows smooth displacement over nearly any surface, and the majority of gamers have never had a problem after a long time of use.
Foam and Upholstery
As mentioned at the beginning of the post, the padding of the seat and the backrest are firm and resistant. Actually, some users find it a bit too stiff. Yeah, it might take some time to get used to it, but don’t forget that it’s designed to increase the durability of the chair.
The upholstery is made of faux-leather, like most of the chairs in this range of price. Undeniable, heat is a known problem with this type of material, although the leather used on the DXRacer is relatively more breathable than low price chairs. But in any case, if you tend to sweat easily or live in a warm place, you might be better off considering a fabric chair.
Armrests
Finally, the only negative point regarding the materials would be the finishing of the armrests. Although being adjustable in 3D is a strength, the plastic is surely something to be improved. A faux leather finishing or even a layer of foam would have been great.
Size and Dimensions
As for the dimensions, the DXRacer F08 is an ideal chair for gamers with average size, that is, between 140 and 180 cm in height. If you are taller than that, be aware that you may encounter two small drawbacks. Although they are not considered as serious issues, you should really think about them:
- The head’s height is likely to exceed the top of the backrest, which may not necessarily be an issue. I personally only rest my head when I want to relax or read a book, but rarely when I’m in front of the PC and during a game.
- Due to the seat’s height, your knees might not be in the optimal – 90 degrees position, and they will inevitably bend. Of course, you will probably survive, but from a purely ergonomic point of view, that’s not great.
Besides, the seat is a little narrower than other similar gaming chairs, and the maximum load supported is 330 lbs. Therefore, this seat may not be suitable for XL users.
Gaming chair comparison
Now let’s have a look at two of the possible competitors of the DXRacer Formula (we have dedicated a full post to other alternatives, like the GT Omega Racing Pro). It will hopefully help you understand the pros and cons with a better perspective:
Diablo X-Ray
The Diablo X-Ray gaming chair is an excellent alternative to the DXRacer Formula, especially for taller users. One of the X-Ray strengths is that it comes in three sizes: Small, Large, and X-Large, so that you can choose the one that suits you the most.
Another advantage over the DXRacer chair is the backrest recline angle, which can go up to 160°. But come on, don’t tell me you will choose a chair for that extra 25 °.
Nevertheless, in terms of ergonomics, the DXRacer is possibly leading ahead. The Diablo X-Ray’s lumbar padding might be too big for some users, and it has only 2D armrests. . On the other hand, The DXRacer has a more simple and elegant look, and that’s something that might be important to you.
Corsair T1 Race
If we talk about elegant design, probably the Corsair T1 Race seat is the winner. But in overall terms of comfort and quality, it’s hard to say which one is better. While DXRacer is a brand with great international prestige, Corsair is also considered one of the best gaming equipment manufacturers (including the Corsair chairs).
Both products use high-quality materials and are highly adjustable to ensure comfort. However, two differences would make, in my opinion, the T1 Race better than the DXRacer. These are the adjustment of the armrests and the recline angle of the backrest.
Corsair’s model has a fourth-degree of flexibility, in other words, 4D armrests. Either way, it’s not a perfect system, and the truth is that the locking system might be a bit wobbly. Finally, the T1 Race’s backrest can recline to 180°, that is to say, completely horizontal. If you spend long hours in front of the PC, you might like this feature to get a nap between the games.
Conclusion: DXRacer chair is best for whom?
To conclude this analysis, the DXRacer Formula gaming chair (F08) is an excellent complement for demanding gamers, even professionals. If you are looking for a high-quality, ergonomic seat and you are willing to pay its price, the DXRacer is definitely for you.
On the other hand, if you are a large person, you may feel that the chair is not entirely suited to your needs. In this case, we could recommend to have a look at other gaming chairs designed for XL gamers, such as the XL models of AK Racing.
But in any case and if you are ready to spend whatever it needs to get the best, maybe something like the Razer Iskur is what you’re looking for.
